Our adversary or our commander-in-chief

How can anyone be so evil as to slaughter babies? How can anyone support the brutal and wicked attacks on innocent civilians? What is the matter with people?

I’ll tell you what’s the matter with them. They are evil because they are under the power of the evil one.

Satan has been extremely active lately. Perhaps it’s because he knows his time is short?

There’s no adequate explanation for the worldwide hostility against the Jews apart from the activity of God’s adversary. Nor for the madness that is gender ideology and the hostility against those advocating for common sense.

The Bible has a lot to say about this spiritual being. Here’s some of what it teaches about him.

1. He has worldwide power. “We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” – 1 John 5:19
2. He is at work in those who disobey God. “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.” – Ephesians 2:1-2
3. He is the father of liars and murderers. “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” – John 8:44
4. He is holding people captive to do his will. “…and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.” – 2 Timothy 2:26
5. He has blinded people’s minds. “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” – 2 Corinthians 4:4

Satan is real and he and his minions have been very, very busy. Don’t believe he exists? That’s just how he wants it because that makes you a much easier target.

We are in a spiritual war and our weapon is Truth. Have you signed up to fight?

 to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

Acts 26:18

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
