Vive la différence
One of the first things I noticed was the women. Not just one but at least three female Secret Service agents on President Trump’s security detail in Butler, PA. This is not good, I thought. It is not good for women to be given responsibilities they are not qualified for.
Men and women are different. How much better off we’d be as a society if we believed and embraced that reality once and for all. Not just different physically but psychologically as well, generally speaking. Men are not only physically stronger but have an innate proclivity to defend and protect. Funny how their bodies are suited for the impulses that drive them. It’s as if they were designed that way, which of course I believe to be the case.
It is why we, at least currently, only send men into combat. It is why if we were being mugged we’d be a lot more relieved to see a 6 ft. 200 lb. policeman coming to our aid than a 5 1/2 ft. 130 lb. policewoman.
Equality is not sameness. Women and men have equal value but different body types, as well as different inclinations, desires, and capabilities. The oft-cited “wage gap” is not evidence of injustice but rather evidence of difference. Men are more likely than women to work physically challenging but high paying jobs, while women predominate in lower paying professions like child care and teaching. Men are twice as likely to work overtime while women take more unpaid time off to care for their children.
The most prominent physical difference between the sexes is the female’s role in reproduction. Her unique physical role in bearing the growing child within her own body strongly suggests that her societal role is to be the primary caregiver of that child. Motherhood is a necessary and noble calling. The proper raising of children in a loving, disciplined home might be the most important, though unpaid, job in the world. Why do we diminish it as unworthy of a woman’s time and talents?
Men and women are different, and that’s a good thing. We should be embracing the differences and structuring our society around them instead of trying to erase them with delusional feminism, transgender ideology, and nonsensical DEI goals.
