To those who have an anxious heart

God loves you. He loves me. Just putting that out there to remind myself and you that in all the craziness and evil we seem to be drowning in right now, God is still sovereign and his love is steadfast.

And he is still the just and righteous God who will someday make everything right. The unrepentant evil-doers will suffer eternal punishment, and those of us who have repented of our evil and put our faith and trust in him will enjoy eternal bliss.

If you are distressed, as I frequently am, by all that is wrong in this world…deception, corruption, murder, destruction…do as I do and call upon the one who saves. God has saved us from the penalty for our sin through Jesus Christ, the Son; he saves us from our stress through his indwelling Spirit; and someday Jesus will gloriously come as Conqueror and King and rescue us from the very presence of evil.

And take advantage of what he has given to encourage us, his Word. Read the Bible, friends.

This is what God has said about himself, and us. Be at peace.

 He will swallow up death forever;

and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,

    and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,

    for the Lord has spoken. – Isaiah 25:8

For the ruthless shall come to nothing

    and the scoffer cease,

    and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off,

who by a word make a man out to be an offender,

    and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,

    and with an empty plea turn aside him who is in the right. – Isaiah 29:20-21

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,

    and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.

For the Lord is a God of justice;

    blessed are all those who wait for him. – Isaiah 30:18

Say to those who have an anxious heart,

    “Be strong; fear not!

Behold, your God

    will come with vengeance,

with the recompense of God.

    He will come and save you.” – Isaiah 35:4
