Praying for discernment
I need to make a clarification. When I posted last week on God’s control of COVID, I said I would attend maskless gatherings and assume the risk of catching the virus knowing that God is able, if he chooses, to protect me from it. But I didn’t mean to suggest that that would be a wise decision for everyone at any time. When the virus is more speedily making the rounds, like it is now, the “reasonable safety recommendations” I referenced in that post would include not attending parties if you are in a vulnerable group or have contact with someone who is.
I just think some recommendations are unreasonable. This calls for discernment, which is my prayer for myself and my family, for our leaders, and for you.
Stay safe out there.
Good clarification, Caroline. We certainly shouldn’t be afraid or anxious (as God commands in the Bible repeatedly) of covid, but we should exercise appropriate discretion and, as you say, discernment when we’re not at home. Although God occasionally graciously answers our tests of his providence, he generally doesn’t want us to do that. Let’s not act like snake handlers just because we think God makes us invincible (unless we know God is specifically directing us to act in such a way!).
